foodAi is an informational tool. It scans food barcodes and photographs and gives you its best reading of what a product contains, judged against the ingredients and allergens you have asked it to watch for. Results come from public product databases, from the text legible in your photos, from pages on the public web, and — when nothing better exists — from an AI estimate that is clearly labelled as one.
foodAi is not a medical device, does not give medical advice, and must never be your only check when the consequences of a mistake are serious. Databases go stale, recipes change, packaging differs between countries, photographs get misread, and AI estimates can simply be wrong. The printed packaging is always the final word. If your allergy or intolerance is severe, confirm every result against the physical label and, where it matters, with your clinician. By using foodAi you accept that every result is an informed estimate, not a guarantee.
An account holds your name, email, country and filter choices. Your scan history — including a compressed copy of your scan photos — is stored privately in your account so it can be restored when you reinstall the app. Text-only records of scans (what was read, what matched, how you rated the result) are kept to improve recognition for everyone. You can delete your history, or your entire account with everything it has ever stored, from inside the app at any time (Profile → Your data). Deletion is immediate and irreversible.
Use foodAi for its purpose: checking food for yourself and people you care for. You agree not to abuse the service — no attempts to break, overload, reverse-engineer or scrape it, and no use of it in any setting where its output would be treated as a safety guarantee (professional kitchens, food manufacturing, medical care).
We work to keep foodAi fast, accurate and available, and we improve it continuously — but it is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We are not liable for decisions made on the basis of its results; your check of the physical packaging is part of using the app as intended. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
The app and these terms will evolve. Material changes to the terms are announced in the app; continuing to use foodAi after a change means you accept it. You can stop using foodAi and delete your account at any moment. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service.
