What we store, and why
- Your account — name, email, country, and which ingredients you avoid. This is what signs you in and drives your filters.
- Your scan history — every scan's result and a compressed copy of its photo, stored privately in your account so your history survives reinstalling the app. Only you can access it.
- Text-only scan records — what was read off a pack, what matched, how long it took, and any rating or note you give a result. These teach the scanner and fix bad matches. They contain no photos.
- A shared product cache — when a barcode's ingredient list is found, the product (not you) is remembered so the next person's scan is instant. Nothing personal is in it.
What we don't do
No ads. No tracking across other apps or sites. No selling or sharing your data with anyone for their purposes. No analytics beyond the scan records described above. No tracking cookies.
Photos
The photo you take is analysed to identify the product — including by AI services — and a compressed copy is saved into your own private history. Photos are never made public, never used to train anything, and never appear in the shared cache or the text-only records.
Who processes data for us
Supabase hosts the database and your private photo storage. Vercel serves the app. Google Cloud (Vision and Gemini) processes scan photos transiently to read and identify products. Apify performs web searches for product ingredient lists — those searches contain product names and barcodes, never anything about you. Each processes data only to provide the service.
Your rights and your controls
Everything is in the app: clear your history, or delete your account entirely (Profile → Your data) — deletion is immediate, total and irreversible, covering your account, history, photos and scan records. EU/GDPR rights apply in full; the legal bases are the agreement you accept at sign-up and our legitimate interest in making recognition work.
Retention and changes
Data is kept until you delete it or your account. Material changes to this policy are announced in the app. Questions welcome at the address above.
